Magic is a very personal song. I wrote it one summer after a long-term relationship ended. I knew that breaking up was the right thing to do, but I missed the magical feeling that love provides, and wondered whether it was worth the struggle to find it again.
I’ve always been a hopeless romantic, schooled by the countless happy-ending love stories in the movies and books I consumed. Real life isn’t scripted so neatly, however, and we often react by closing ourselves off to protect our heart from breaking again.
Anyone who has ever experienced love knows it’s feeling is magical. It can be found in the smallest moments - when a hand slips into yours, a kiss on the forehead, or simply having a jacket wrapped around your shoulders. Those moments I’d argue are definitely worth the chance and worth the wait.
